Let's look at projects around the house-pantry edition.

This section will cover some of my previous projects and will start with the one I use everyday. I updated our pantry over a year ago. For some reason my before and after pics have disappeared but you can see the way it was when we bought it (top left). There was only the built in shelves which look like a lot but are less than 12" deep. We added wire shelves (top right) and a door storage rack, both from the Container Store. We also hid the far back storage with an inexpensive small wire shelf from Target which can be moved to get the less used items behind it and saves us from bumping our heads.

There's so much advice out there on how to organize your pantry but the key is to pick something that makes sense in your house. There's no good way to do it without taking everything out and spreading around every available surface. There was so much to throw away because it was hidden and not used plus multiples because I didn't know we already had it (don't tell me you've never done that before).I used mostly what I already had but did buy a few extra baskets once I knew what I needed. The shelf lining is a bit of a pain but it looks good once you're done. I will say the pantry is working well for us and is mostly staying neat. Amazing what having a place for everything can do.

These are the labels I talked about in the Chalkboard post. I cut them out to fit each container and used scissors with a decorative edge to trim. A chalk marker worked beautifully and doesn't smear but unfortunately the marker dried up after a while. You can also see where I stencilled the wall for a little interest. I would have liked to paint everything but was too much so settled for the stencil and shelf liner.

Pantry from old house. I really liked this one. Smaller but easier to use.

Thanks for checking this out. I know my friends roll their eyes when I talk about my organized pantry making me happy but I'm strange that way. Anyone else?
